SBA disaster loans to assist N.C. firms

back to news

December 2, 2008

The Small Business Administration says federal loans are available to small N.C. businesses that suffered financial losses from the drought and high temperatures this year.

The loan program is also available to small agricultural cooperatives and most private nonprofits in North Carolina.

The funds are available in all parts of the state except Currituck, Lee, Northampton and Vance counties.

“When the secretary of agriculture issues a disaster declaration to help farmers recover from damages and losses to crops, the Small Business Administration issues a declaration to assist small businesses and most private, nonprofit organizations affected by the same disaster,” says Frank Skaggs, a field-operations director for the SBA.

Eligible small businesses and nonprofits may qualify for loans of up to $2 million.
